We have run out of stock for this item.

Adrenal support helps to reduce fatigue and improve stress coping ability. BurnoutTM is a 100 % natural formula with no animal glandulars. It’s dual action stimulates adrenal function while reducing adrenal hormone breakdown and is ideal for underactive or overstressed adrenal glands, extreme unexplained fatigue, chronic fatigue syndrome, non-responsive obesity, mild depression or stress arising from a specific situation or a highly pressured job.

adrenal hormones, the main ones being cortisol, aldosterone, pregnenolone, DHEA and adrenaline. The most important of these is cortisol, because when this is lowered, the body will no longer be able to deal with stress, a situation which can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome. Korean ginseng is an adaptogen

that enhances energy and improves adrenal function. The term adaptogen refers to Korean ginseng’s buffering ability; to stimulate an underactive adrenal gland by affecting the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, by slowing down an overactive adrenal, thereby reducing the effects of stress. Korean ginseng also protects nerve function and enhances memory and coping ability during times of stress. Korean ginseng will also help treat the

blood-sugar irregularities and low blood pressure that occur with under-active adrenal glands. Liquorice slows down the breakdown of cortisol in the body by inhibiting renal 11 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, reducing the conversion of cortisol to inactive cortisone in the kidneys, allowing the adrenals time to recuperate. Liquorice also helps protect from the acidic indigestion sometimes associated with adrenal fatigue and burnout. Echinacea is a potent adrenal stimulant, and also helps fight infections (such as candida) that commonly occur with adrenal fatigue. Echinacea achieves

this by increasing phagocytosis and increasing lymphocyte activity, possibly by promoting the release of tumour necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and interferon. Several constituents of Echinacea seem to be involved in stimulating this nonspecific immune response. Chromium polynicotinate

helps prevent the blood sugar irregularities and fatigue caused by an underactive adrenal gland as it is a vital component of glucose tolerance factor (GTF). Clinical evidence shows that vitamin B1 (thiamine pyrophosphate) counters the adrenal insufficiency that occurs from trauma such as surgery. Vitamin B5 (calcium-d-pantothenate) in the form of coenzyme A is closely involved in adrenal cortex function and has come to be known as the anti-stress vitamin; it acts as an enzyme to facilitate the production of all adrenal anti-stress hormones.

Anticoagulant/antiplatelet medication: Liquorice seems to increase the metabolism and decrease levels of warfarin. Individuals taking warfarin should avoid liquorice.

Alcohol: Significantly increases the clearance of alcohol.

Antidiabetic medication: May enhance the blood glucose lowering effects, use with caution.

Caffeine: Theoretically caffeine may have an additive effect to the stimulant effects of Panax ginseng.

Cytochrome P450 2D6, P450 2C9, P 450 3A4 and P450 2B6: There is some evidence that Panax Ginseng and liquorice can inhibit these cytochromes.

Caution should be exercised when using medication metabolised

by this enzyme. Some of these medications include: amitriptyline, clozapine, codeine, desipramine, donepezil, fentanyl, flecainide, fluoxetine, meperidine, methadone, meto¬prolol, olanzapine, ondansetron, tramadol, trazodone, ketamine, phenobarbital, orphenadrine, secobarbital, dexamethasone, celecoxib, diclofenac, fluvastatin, glip¬izide, ibuprofen, losartan, phenytoin, piroxicam, tamoxifen, tolbutamide, torsemide, warfarin, lovastatin, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, diltiazem, oestrogens, indinavir, triazolam and others.

Antihypertensive medication: Liquorice increases blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner.

Digoxin: Overuse and misuse of liquorice with cardiac glycoside therapy might increase the risk of cardiac toxicity due to potassium loss.

Cortisone: Use of cortisone with this product could cause excessive potassium depletion and require potassium supplementation, speak to your medical practitioner.
